Advice to fans new and old, since I’ve noticed this tag has changed a lot in the past 2 years:

First of all: stop posting pages from the Hawks and Evil genius scanslations. They add things that characters never say, omit important lines, or mistranslate them to the point that the meaning is entirely different. It contributes to common misconceptions that many have.

If you take the time to read the Dark Horse translations you’ll be surprised as just how much the scanalations deviate from canon.

In addition, don’t base your opinions on the movies, which are complete garbage that completely miss the mark. They approach Berserk like Michael Bay did with the Transformers. The movies skimp on character development (No bonfire of dreams. No details of Griffith’s/Gut’s/Casca’s past, the love scene between Guts and Casca is such a departure it’s a joke) , turn the homoerotosism up to 11, make a the dub-con scene between Griffith and Charlotte into a love scene, add scenes that go against canon (Guts attacking Femto, Farnese and Serpico cameo = WHAT?!), interpret scenes incorrectly, cut out countless plot lines…I could go on.

And the correct spellings of names are Guts, Casca, and Griffith.

Berserk is a series that is about more than violence and sex, it’s a series where every panel is there for a reason, where subtlety is just as important as the obvious.
